Privacy Policy

Cheeseburger Chasers (“we”, “us”) is a community for discovering and rating burgers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the service you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile Google shares (name and avatar).
  • Profile information. The handle, display name, bio, and home area you choose.
  • Content you post. Burger ratings (Chase it / Run away), captions, photos, comments, hearts, saves, follows, and the restaurant each rating is attached to.
  • Location. If you use the “Nearby” feed or the “use my location” option when posting, your device shares approximate coordinates for that request. We store the location of a rating (derived from its restaurant), not a continuous location history.
  • Technical data. Standard log and cookie data needed to keep you signed in and to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

  • Provide the feed, restaurant and burger pages, profiles, and social features.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Compute community stats such as chase percentages and trust levels.
  • Detect abuse and enforce our community standards.

We do not sell your personal information.

Photos and metadata

Photos you upload are re-encoded on our servers, which removes embedded EXIF metadata (including any GPS tags) before the image is published. Published photos and ratings are publicly visible.

Service providers

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and photo storage.
  • Google — optional sign-in, and Google Maps/Places for restaurant lookup.
  • Vercel — application hosting.

These providers process data on our behalf to run the service.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile or delete individual posts and comments at any time.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated content by contacting us (see below).
  • Decline location access in your browser; the Nearby feed simply won’t use it.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
